Both learnerships towards a full motor mechanics trade qualification as well as short courses are offered. All material is fully accredited.
Learnerships
Learnerships for both diesel as well as petrol motor mechanics are offered at NQF levels 2 & 3.
Short Courses
- Ratios of not more than 1:12 will be adhered to
- Learners must have safety clothes i.e. overalls, boots etc. Safety clothing can be purchased from the Academy prior to the commencement of the programme. Should this be necessary please contact our reception or registration desk or send us an e-mail as per the “Contact Us” tab on the home page

- All courses are offered in association with Qualitas Training, an accredited Service Provider that is also a preferred supplier for the Department of Labour. All courses are accredited as per SAQA requirements

MODULE 1: CARE & USE OF HAND TOOLS
COURSE DURATION: 20 DAYS
- Care and use of tools applicable to the trade
- Fit locking devices
MODULE 2: INTRODUCTION TO MECHANICS
COURSE DURATION: 10 DAYS
- Study the fundamentals of technology
- Remove inspect and replace cooling system components
- Perform lubrication service
MODULE 3: ENGINE TUNING
COURSE DURATION: 10 DAYS
- Perform engine tune up
MODULE 4: FUEL SYSTEMS
DURATION: 5 DAYS
Remove, test and replace fuel system components
MODULE 5: TRANSMISSION SYSTEMS
COURSE DURATION: 15 DAYS
- Service and repair transmission system
- Understand basic theory of transmission systems
- Remove, inspect and replace clutch components
- Remove, dismantle, inspect, assemble and replace a transmission system
MODULE 6: DRIVE TRAIN
COURSE DURATION: 5 DAYS
- Remove, inspect and replace drive train components
MODULE 7: SUSPENSION
COURSE DURATION: 5 DAYS
- Understand basic suspension theory
- Remove, inspect and replace suspension components
MODULE 8: STEERING
COURSE DURATION: 5 DAYS

- Remove, inspect and replace steering components

- Dismantle service and repair cylinder head

MODULE 11: ENGINE TUNE UP

- Timing, Cam & Ignition Compression tests,

MODULE 12: HYDRAULIC BRAKE SYSTEMS

- Service and repair hydraulic brake system

- Service and repair pneumatic brake system components
- Understand operation of basic airbrake systems
