First engineering aides graduate from EBDA

On the 19th March 2010 EBDA achieved another significant milestone in its delivery of human resource development initiatives for its primary client, Ergo Mining Pty Ltd. Four engineering aides from the Ergo plant received their certificates of competence for the completion of the in-house Engineering Aides Certificate. This certificate forms part of the National Certificate in Engineering NQF level 2 qualification. The successful candidates are Steven Nkabende, Chris Matiso, and Jan Mogotlane.

These employees will now continue with the balance of the unit standards required for the full NQF level 2 qualification over an extended period of time on a part time basis until such time as they have met all the requirements of the qualification.

At the certification ceremony, Mr Jan Prinsloo, the Engineering Manager from Ergo congratulated the employees and noted that this is a significant achievement for both the employees as well as the company. He encouraged them to remain humble in their achievements and persevere in their attainment of the full qualification. The sense of pride and achievement on the part of the successful learners has been most notable.

It is intended to put all engineering aides in the group through the same programme. At the same time, similar programmes are currently being structured for engineering operatives and other engineering employees.

EBDA is proud of the fact that although the numbers are still small we have achieved a 100% pass rate and we will do whatever it takes to maintain this level of excellence.
