After a successful scope extension audit carried out by the MQA on the 12th November, EBDA was awarded full accreditation by the Mining Qualifications Authority in all areas for which it applied for accreditation as follows:
- Engineering in the following trades:
- Fabrication (Boilermaking, plating and welding)
- Fitting and machining
- Electrical
- Millwright
In all these trades, accreditation was awarded for the full qualification in both the modular as well as the unit standard based learning methodologies. In addition EBDA is also fully accredited to conduct section 13 trade tests in all of the above trades.
- Metallurgy / Minerals Processing
Full accreditation was attained in all MQA approved unit standard based learning material. This included the following registered skill programmes:
- Crushing and screening
- Ore reception
- Thickening of a slurry
- Handling chemicals
- Milling of material
- Adsorption of gold onto activated carbon
- Safety, Health and Environment
Full accreditation was attained in all MQA approved unit standard based learning material. This included the following registered skill programme:
- Health & Safety for workplace representatives
- Soft Skills
Full accreditation was attained for the following three generic management programmes:
- Basic Generic Management
- Intermediate Generic Management (National Certificate in Generic Management NQF level 2)
- Advanced Generic Management (National Certificate in Generic Management NQF level 3)
In addition to the above, EBDA is also a fully accredited ABET centre for ABET levels 1-4. This was previously attained in April 2009.
It should be noted that as part of the MQA accreditation process, EBDA has also been certified by the SABS as meeting all the requirements of the ISO9001:2008 standard.
