First batch of learners graduate from the ERPM re-skilling programme

The first group of 50 former ERPM employees who attended a re-skilling programme in basic welding techniques completed their programme at the Ekurhuleni Businesss Development Academy on 20 July 2009. All learners were also trained in Basic Business Skills prior to their technical re-skilling.

The learners were all extremely motivated on completion of the programme as they were now ready to re-enter the employment market with new portable and marketable skills. Many were looking forward to venturing into the world of self-employment.

The re-training was sponsored collectively by ERPM and the Department of Labour.

    EBDA achieved another major milepost in the evolution of its business model when the first batch of engineering apprentices wrote their trade tests. Five learners wrote their trade tests in the electrical and fitting trades, all of whom were found competent in their first attempt at sitting their trade tests. EBDA is proud of the fact that although the numbers are still small we have achieved a 100% pass rate and we will do whatever it takes to maintain this level of excellence. A further 16 learners are expected to sit for their trade tests within the next six weeks.

  • 8First engineering aides graduate from EBDA

    On the 19th March 2010 EBDA achieved another significant milestone in its delivery of human resource development initiatives for its primary client, Ergo Mining Pty Ltd. Four engineering aides from the Ergo plant received their certificates of competence for the completion of the in-house Engineering Aides Certificate. This certificate forms part of the National Certificate in Engineering NQF level 2 qualification. The successful candidates are Steven Nkabende, Chris Matiso, and Jan Mogotlane
