The Ekurhuleni Business Development Academy (EBDA) is a fully accredited training and small business development initiative situated in Ekurhuleni’s industrial heartland. EBDA is SABS ASO9001:2008 certified and is a fully accredited trade test centre offering a variety of engineering learnerships. In addition to these engineering learnerships, we also offer learnerships in motor mechanics and construction skills.
Engineering learnerships, skills programmes and short courses are also offered in Metallurgy and Minerals processing.
Further, a nine month long new venture creation learnership is a unique qualification on offer which is aimed at making a genuine impact on reducing the skills deficit, not only in the mining industry, but across all South African economic sectors.
With a very broad portfolio of learning interventions and services, EBDA has a unique business development model that not only culminates in the development and establishment of sustainable SSME’s but also addresses the training and development requirements of companies as well as private South Africans that wish to pursue an engineering learnership or related skills programme.
EBDA offers both the modular and the unit standard engineering learnerships at all NQF levels, so candidates are able to select either way of completing their learnership. Trade tests are written at the Academy and all then administration and registrations are done by the relevant assessors. Both Section 13 and Section 28 trade tests may be completed, depending on the need of the client.
EBDA is also in the process of registering as an FET college in order to conduct N1 and N2 courses which are a pre-requisite for completing an engineering learnership.
Operator training and licensing, health and safety, ABET and computer training form part of EBDA’s portfolio. Other services include business coaching and support, assessments and career development, general consulting, SETA management, small job manufacturing and conferencing.
